Bone tumours grow when cells in bone divide without control forming a mass tissue:
- Weakens bone
- Breaks bone
- Other related bone problems
- Spread to other parts of bode- METASTASIS
Most Common Type of Bone Cancer:-
- Osteosarcoma: (Primary Bone Cancer)
- Most common site- knee, upper arm
- Age: (teen of young adult)
- In adults its referred as paget’s disease
- Ewing’s Sarcoma:(Primary Bone Cancer)
- Age- 5- 20yrs
- Site: ribs, pelvis, legs and upper arm
- Chondrosarcoa: age 40 – 70 years (cancer of cartilage cells)
- Multiple Myeloma: bone marrow cancer( bone marrow is soft tissue)
Diagnostic Investigation:
- X-ray
- Blood investigations
- Biopsy
Bone Cancer Symptoms:
- Pain in area of tumor
- Pain is dull and aching
- May get worsen with activity
- Pain is so severe that it wakes at night
- Fever
- Chills
- Swelling around bone
- Lumping
Bone Cancer is Removed by Surgery
Other treatment options include: radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted drug therapy, immunotherapy
