Bone tumours grow when cells in bone divide without control forming a mass tissue:

  • Weakens bone
  • Breaks bone
  • Other related bone problems
  • Spread to other parts of bode- METASTASIS

Most Common Type of Bone Cancer:-

  1. Osteosarcoma:  (Primary Bone Cancer)
  • Most common site- knee, upper arm
  • Age: (teen of young adult)
  • In adults its referred as paget’s disease
  1. Ewing’s Sarcoma:(Primary Bone Cancer)
  • Age- 5- 20yrs
  • Site: ribs, pelvis, legs and upper arm
  1. Chondrosarcoa: age 40 – 70 years (cancer of cartilage cells)
  2. Multiple Myeloma: bone marrow cancer( bone marrow is soft tissue)

Diagnostic Investigation:

  • X-ray
  • Blood investigations
  • Biopsy

Bone Cancer Symptoms:

  1. Pain in area of tumor
  2. Pain is dull and aching
  3. May get worsen with activity
  4. Pain is so severe that it wakes at night
  5. Fever
  6. Chills
  7. Swelling around bone
  8. Lumping

Bone Cancer is Removed by Surgery

Other treatment options include: radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted drug therapy, immunotherapy
